Summer Favorites

Hi Everyone!

So summer is really truly coming to an end *cries* but this summer has been a great one and I have definitely checked off a lot off my summer bucket list!

To wrap up the summer I wanted to share a few of my summer favorites with you because this summer has been quite a minimalistic summer for me and I have stuck to the quality over quantity rule. In other words, I’ve found a few products that I absolutely love and those are all I’ve been using. So… since I love these products so much I thought it might be cool for you guys to see them!

  • Lilah Beauty – This summer I think I have really fallen back in love with all natural brands. I’ve always been interested in being green, but I never really looked into eco-friendly brands. But when I was looking for a new makeup brand and was introduced to Lilah.b I was OBSESSED. Their products left my face with a dewy, natural look that made me feel amazing, and their products did not irritate my skin at all. I have very sensitive skin and tend to break out a lot, so I usually shy away from wearing a lot of makeup unless I really have to. But recently I’ve wanted something to use that will make me feel good and does not damage my skin. Lilah.b is perfect!! Honestly to anyone going through a hard skin time please please please try this brand, not only are they amazing but almost all their products are vegan and they’re all animal cruelty-free! They’re also just really wonderful to work with,  whenever I tag them or write about them they are sure to leave a comment which I think is just so sweet! Also be sure to check out their products now, as they are currently having a 20% off sale!!! Find them here: @lilahbeauty or here

  • Charlie The Shop – Before this summer I was having a small dilemma with clothes. I was just so tired of going into a shop and seeing the same styles and quality in every single store. So when I traveled to Lisbon and came across Charlie The Shop I was over the moon. My style is quite simple but elegant, and I like to wear clothes that are good quality. Charlie the shop offers all of this! It was totally by accident that we came across this store. We were walking down a street and saw the window and decided to take a look inside. I can tell you I went crazy looking through the racks of clothes because there were about a billion things I loved. This store is an independent boutique, which means that their clothes have a unique style. Their clothes also come in one size, but I can tell you that this isn’t a problem because their clothes are adaptable and quite flowy. The women in the shop were really nice as well, helping me with my clothes and offering advice. I’ve basically been wearing their clothes all summer long, and I would definitely go back if I could! • Tata Harper Skin Care – this is another one of my favorite natural brands and something that greatly benefits my skin. I can tell you that since I started using this brand of skincare I have not had one breakout. Their products literally smell like you’re in a spa and are really amazing for your skin. They’re all natural and non-toxic, and they’re a sustainable business! WOW. They grow all their own produce on a farm in Vermont, which is what they use in their products ( I think that’s super cool!!) Their products are a little pricey, but they are definitely worth the cost. Find them here: @tataharperskincare or here

Back To School – The Expat Edition

Hi Everyone!

So, the back to school season is here! I know, summer has gone way too quickly, I feel like it just flew by. I’ll be writing a few more summerish posts for you guys soon, but I thought I would focus on a back to school post today because I know some of you are already back, and need some support during this tough, tough time.

When I first started this blog my intention was to help teenagers and teenage expats all over the world, and that’s still what I want to do. So in this post, (I’m warning you) I’m just gonna get down to the writing and give you a post that means a lot to me, and I hope that is helpful for you guys!

Around three years ago this time of year, I was unpacking in my new house and getting ready for my first day of my new school. This was the first time I was a new kid, and I was scared. After all, the back to school season is scary enough without having to be a new kid. On my first day as an expat in school, no one talked to me, no one showed me around, and I went home and cried. Now, this obviously reflects a bit about the school I went to, but I’m sure that loneliness and fear are things that all new kids can relate to.

In this post I’m going to share with you a few tips on going back to school, whether you’re a new kid, or a returning student, I hope these help you!

Before you go to school, meditate – Okay, so that probably sounds a bit weird, and I don’t mean meditate as in sitting cross legged, with closed eyes, repeating ‘ommm’. No, though that would be very fun. I mean spending a bit of time coming to terms with going back to school, thinking about what you want to achieve this year, and planning out what you are going to do. Because there’s nothing worse than going to school having no idea what you’re doing.

Be organised – Two words, so simple. If there’s one key to success in school or any workplace it is definitely to be organised and know what you’re doing. Being a new student this is even more important because you don’t know how things work yet so you need to be organised and ready to adapt to the environment.

First impressions are key – Whether you’re a new student or a returning student meeting new people, first impressions are very important. These are what people remember you by. My top tip? Be polite. No one likes a jerk, and nothing bad ever came from being polite. People will remember you in a positive way if you do this one thing.

Remember no one’s born popular – If you’re new, don’t spend too much time worrying about popularity. It’s practically impossible for everyone to like you, let alone do it on the first day. Honestly, it’s way more important to be yourself and to have friends that appreciate you for you.

Don’t get too upset – I know first days of school can be bad, remembering that you have a whole year ahead of you doesn’t help either. But when you think about it, nothing is really as bad as it seems. We always make things out worse in our heads than they really are. School is great, and even though it may not be fun during every single moment, it’s an experience that will get you somewhere in life, so make the most of it.

These are just a few of my random tips to help you with back to school. They really came from my heart, and trust me they come with a lot of experience with being a new kid.

Please let me know if you agree with my tips, or have any others?

I hope that you all have an amazing school year! And I wish you all the best of luck!

Best Friends, Bonfires, & Barbecues

Hi Guys!

So as I mentioned in one of my previous posts I visited Seattle recently!! It was really fun to explore the city (and I will be writing a post about this later) but the main reason I went all the way to Seattle was to visit a friend.

Being an expat means that friends come and go, and in the end you are left with friends all over the world. One of my best friends moved to Seattle about six months ago, and since the trip was convenient for us I decided to go visit her.

I’ll be honest, a part of me was nervous about what it would be like to see someone after six months, but the other part of me was screaming with excitement to finally see my best friend. I think that anyone seeing an old friend will experience this, it can be weird to see them at first, but in the end it will be a total blast.

Anyways, back to the post. I had an AMAZING time with my friend out in Seattle and I thought I would share with you a few of the things we did:

On our first and last nights we sat outside in her garden and had a barbecue, which was delicious. And later we sat round a bonfire listening to music and attempting to make s’mores. It was magical, and I didn’t want my trip to end.

Another one of the things that I was set on doing when I found out that my friend lived in rural Washington was to go on a picnic! This is something that I don’t really get to do in Dubai because it is usually way too hot. So my friend and I walked down to the park, put down a blanket and spent some time together. I’m all for outdoorsy things, and I think that a picnic is a great way to catch up with a friend, while doing something fun.

One thing that I really wanted to do while I was in Washington was to go on a hike, because the mountains and lakes there are really beautiful. Sadly I didn’t get to do this, but my sisters went on a hike and it looked amazing. I would recommend this for anyone going to Washington.

I hope my story helped anyone going to Washington, or anyone going to visit an old friend. So if you have a friend thats moved away, don’t be a stranger go see them! because trust me, it will be amazing.

Have you ever been to Seattle?

Shoes & Shopping

Hi Guys,

So today I wanted to share something really cool I recently got in the mail! Being an expat means that you sometimes miss out on things back home, and have to wait till you get back to receive them. Something that I always do is order a bunch of packages to be delivered to me when I get back to London because there are some things that are easier to get in London than Dubai.

A couple of weeks ago I got my Soludos!!! Soludos are a type of espadrilles that I have seen on literally every fashion blogger recently, and I really liked their quirky designs and colors. So… I got a pair…. or two! I wanted to try them out and give you guys a little peek because, you never know, you might want to try them as well.

So here they are!! Let me know what you guys think, and if you want a review?

The second awesome pair! These were more elegant flats, that tied around my ankles and looked kind of like ballerina shoes!!!!!
