I usually stick to writing about my expat experiences on this blog, but this week I decided to do something different! While we’re all at home self-isolating, I thought it would be fun to share some new and interesting information in the hope to inspire some of you!
As you may know, I’ll be heading off to college next year and a field that really interests me is the sustainable and environmental business field. It is something that I have been curious about for many years, and because of this, I have made switches in my own lifestyle to support more local and environmentally conscious businesses. One of these businesses is Evolve Organic Beauty – a natural and organic skincare line. I’ve been using their products for a couple of years now and I really love them!
I was lucky enough to interview their founder, Laura Rudoe on why it is important to bring environmental issues into business and how she did this with her company. The reason I wanted to share this interview was to hopefully inspire all of you to take environmental issues into consideration regardless of your interests, lifestyle, or experience – we can all make a change in a unique way.
I love hearing real innovative stories like this one, and it leaves me motivated to work even harder for these issues I believe in! It’s a great opportunity to hear from a company like Evolve Organic Beauty first hand! I am also giving away one of their Organic Skincare Bestsellers Gift Set at the end of this post so stick around to learn how you can win it.
Onto the interview!
Please give me a brief introduction to Evolve Beauty
Evolve Beauty is a natural and organic artisanal beauty brand based in Hertfordshire, where our team of artisans create all of our vegan and cruelty-free products by hand. Our aim is to create products that help people live a little greener every day without compromising on quality. We believe that the natural and organic ingredients that we use are better for us and for the planet than the synthetic alternatives found in most mass produced beauty products.
Why did you decide to start Evolve Beauty?
I suffered with bad skin when I was younger, which really knocked my confidence and so I have always had an interest in learning more about skincare and what the best ingredients are for different skin problems. After graduating from Harvard Business School I helped to set up a brand called NUDE, another ethical beauty business, and I absolutely loved being a part of the clean beauty revolution and making my passion for skincare my career. Afterwards I decided to make the leap and set up my own natural beauty company, Evolve Organic Beauty.
Why was it important for you that your company was Eco-Friendly? And what steps did you take to get here?
Over the past 15-20 years I have tried to integrate natural and sustainable living into my own lifestyle, I am a passionate consumer of organic products and I wanted to reflect my own personal beliefs and lifestyle choices in my brand. Over the years we’ve made so many changes to our brand and the products to get to where we are today, and we’re always trying to push the boundaries to see how we can make our products even more eco-friendly and sustainable. We’re happy to say that we’re by no means perfect and we’re always working on new ideas, just this year we moved into a new Eco-Studio which is 100% wind powered to continue to create our products in house as we grow.
What is one piece of advice you would give to someone who’s trying to live a more environmentally friendly lifestyle?
Just try and take things one step at a time and do a little bit everyday to live a more environmentally friendly lifestyle. Sometimes taking on too much can feel overwhelming but if everyone did just a little bit it would make a big difference! Why not try going meat free a couple days a week, cutting out single use water bottles or switching over some of your household and beauty products to more eco-friendly brands.
I hope you enjoyed that short interview! It’s so interesting to see how businesses are paving the way for us to be more environmentally-friendly; I mean a 100% wind-powered Eco-Studio is seriously cool! And a huge thank you to Evolve Organic Beauty for being a part of this post.
I am doing a giveaway on my Instagram (@Little.Miss.Expat) to share one of Evolve’s Organic Skincare Bestsellers gift set with one of you! It has some of my favorite products in it, including the radiant glow mask which I think smells just like brownie batter and it’s good for your skin! Head over to my Instagram to learn how you can enter.

That’s all for this week!
