I often get asked what it’s like to live in Dubai… do people speak English? do I ride a camel to school? have I been up the world’s tallest building – the Burj Khalifa? And while yes, people speak English here, I see lots of camels (but I don’t ride one to school), and I have actually been up the Burj Khalifa on a school field trip, there are a lot of unique things to Dubai that people don’t know about. In today’s post, I thought I would share eight special things that are unique to Dubai. I picked out a few fun examples – I hope you enjoy!
While it’s not normal to ride a camel around Dubai… I’ve certainly seen a lot of them since living here.
This is the thing that I’m going to miss the most when I leave Dubai next year 🙁
From music festivals to shows at our opera house to the world Expo next year, there is always something going on in Dubai. You’ll never get bored!
Other countries have snow days. We have rainy days. It only rains a couple times a year in Dubai, but when it does it’s a huge deal! There’s a lot of flooding and sometimes schools even get shut for the day.
In my opinion, I don’t think any other city can top Dubai for its sunsets
Whenever I travel I always find myself comparing skylines to Dubai’s because I think we have the best one!
Despite raining once or twice a year, the rest of the time it’s super hot here! Sometimes it even gets up to 50 degrees Celcius in the summer
Something that most people don’t know is that here in Dubai we have different weekends to everyone else in the world. Our weekdays are Sunday through Thursday and our weekend is Friday and Saturday. So while everyone is working on a Friday we’re just chilling and relaxing here in Dubai!
I hope you enjoyed learning some fun facts about living in Dubai. Are there any similarities between where you live? And if you live in Dubai, let me know if there’s anything else you’d add to the list in the comments.
