My recent posts...

For anyone who lives in Dubai, you know that the summers get SUPER hot, so we tend to value our cooler winters and spend as much time as possible outdoors! Certainly, with the pandemic it makes sense to take advantage of the cool weather and spend more time outdoors this year. Dubai is a very urban city, and it may not seem as if there are a lot of places to get outside and connect with nature, but if you look hard enough you’ll definitely find some gems. I’ve been living here for almost seven years, and in this blog post I’m going to share some of my favorite outdoor locations in the UAE where you can safely spend time with friends and enjoy the cool winter weather!

Happy 2021 everyone, I hope a great year lies ahead of us! To start off my blog posts of 2021 I wanted to write a bit about some habits I’m trying to keep this year, and of course share a free resource to help you do the same

In this post I want to reflect back on what 2020 taught me, share some photos from the year, and talk a bit about 2021. I wanted to keep this blog post positive and focus on the lessons and happy moments, but obviously like everyone else there have been some really tough times this year.

This month, I’m really excited to share Kathi Daniela’s story! She’s an expat currently living in South Africa, but she’s lived in a whole host of other countries. If there’s someone that can speak about picking up and moving multiple times, it’s her! She also has a beautiful blog which you can find here. Here’s what Kathi wrote for her Expat Wisdom story:

This year’s Christmas is most-likely different for all of us! I usually spend Christmas back home in London surrounded by my extended family and friends, and this year I’ll be staying in Dubai and spending the holidays here. I’ve been super nostalgic recently, remembering all the great Christmas memories from last year, and like most people at the moment, I’ve been struggling to make it feel festive. I wanted to write this guide to help you get in the Christmas spirit, even if you don’t feel very festive at the moment! Perhaps you can’t go home to for Christmas, you can’t spend it with your loved ones, or you’re understandable feeling a bit worried about the global situation, hopefully this hope will help inject some Christmas cheer into your life!

If you’re not able to travel home to be with your extended family, if you’re in a country where you can’t have gatherings, or if you need to be extra safe, a virtual Christmas party is for you! Even though it won’t be the same, there are still a bunch of fun activities you can over Zoom. In this blog post I’ll be going through how to plan your own virtual Christmas party from choosing a platform, setting virtual backgrounds, and playing games. Stay tuned for some fun resources I’ve created as well!

Last year I wrote a guide about how to host the perfect festive gathering, and this year I’ll be putting together a guide for hosting the perfect festive gathering at a distance! (stay tuned for that in the next few days) One thing you can to to liven-up your Zoom meetings with colleagues or friends is to change up your Zoom background to something festive. In this blog post I’ll be sharing some of my most festive photos from the past few years as Zoom backgrounds, and you’ll be able to download these backgrounds for FREE to use on your own meeting!

It’s getting to that time of year where we all start making our Christmas wish lists and start buying gifts for our loved ones. I love looking at gift guides to help me with gift ideas, so I thought I would put together one of my own! This gift guide is a collection of products that are sustainably made, help you become more environmentally friendly, ethically made, or that support small businesses. I think these are all really important goals to keep in mind at the moment when we make choices about what to buy, and hopefully they’ll give you some inspiration for your gift-giving this season!

Hello everyone! In this week’s post I’m going to be sharing some of my favorite student discounts that have helped me save money ever since becoming a university student. There are so many companies out there that offer special discounts for students, which is amazing! I know that when I finally get to go to campus and I have to buy everything for my dorm room these discounts will be super useful

I use Notion basically every single day, and in this post I’ll show you the two most common types of pages I use and how to set them up. Notion is basically a “life-organizing” app – you can use it for pretty much anything. I personally use it to organize my academic work and my work for this blog, and the pages that I’ll be showing you in this post are geared towards those goals.

Hello everyone! Incase you’re new to my blog, I’m a freshman at Georgetown University, however, I’ve been doing my first semester online at home in Dubai with a 9 hour time difference. I’m documenting my experiences with this challenge as well as sharing some tips for others going through the same thing! A few weeks ago I shared a “week in my life” style blog post and it you seemed to love it. That’s why this week I’ve decided to share my morning routine so give you a better idea of how I’m dealing with the time difference and what I’m doing to stay happy and positive. My morning routine sets the tone for the rest of the day, and initially I really struggled to build a healthy morning routine because my time difference meant that I was sleeping super late and waking up late everyday. However, it’s been a couple of months and I think I’ve managed to build a healthy morning routine that puts me in a good mood for the rest of the day and I’m excited to share it with you.

Hello everyone! It is officially November 1st which means (at least in my opinion) that the holiday season is here! The holidays are seriously my favorite time of year. I spend the other 10 months of the year looking forward to November and December, and I have to admit that I sometimes play my Christmas playlists all throughout the year if I need cheering up. One of my favorite things about the Christmas season is picking out gifts for everyone. I love picking out items that will make each recipient feel happy and special. Ever since starting my store, Wildflower Studios, this summer, I’ve been so excited about creating a Christmas collection for you all!

Hello everyone! In this week’s blog post I thought I would share how I’m studying from home just some of my general study tips! Incase you’re new here, I’m a freshman as Georgetown University and I went to high school in Dubai. I’m currently taking my first semester of college online and it is honestly a struggle! Online school makes it more difficult to follow along and understand class content, especially when you’re getting used to a whole new college curriculum like I am. I thought it would be useful to share what I’m doing and some of my top tips for success!

In this post I’m going to take you through a productive week in my life (weekdays only). Incase you’re new here, I’m a freshmen at Georgetown University, but because of the pandemic I’m spending my first semester at home in Dubai with an 8 hours (soon to be 9 hours) time difference taking classes via Zoom. I’m still trying to work out my routine with my crazy time difference and I’m still trying to get adjusted to the college life. My weekly routine will probably look different later on in the semester, so if you like this type of post, I’ll be sure to make another week in my life for later on in the semester.

Let’s face it, being at home every single day doing online college classes can get very boring! There comes a point when you’re just sick of working, watching Netflix, exercising, and you can’t possibly take any more naps. So what can you do? Well, in this ongoing series on my blog I’ll be sharing some fun activities that you can do safely during the pandemic to escape from the monotony of working from home.

I guess this is a good time to write some blog posts about my life because what I’m going through at the moment is really a once in a lifetime experience: attending my first year of university from half way across the world in my childhood bedroom with an 8 hour time difference in the middle of a global pandemic. It’s crazy!

I was looking for an app that would help me organize everything in my life and I stumbled across Notion which has been LIFE CHANGING! This post is not sponsored or anything like that, but I’m just so in love with this application and I genuinely think it helps a lot! I’ve told all my friends who just started college about it and they’ve also been using it non-stop. In this post I’m going to tell you what Notion is, how I use it, and what you can do with it!
